This Theme Park Is for The Birds.

I don't think my pet parrot would like this ride much, even if the entire feathered community was all abuzz about it. He might go on the Walnut and Grape Fantasy ride, though. He'll do anything for those favorite treats.
So, I was up late the other night trying to resolve a gag for the Illustration Friday word, but just couldn't make it funny. I tried, but I was 'Fading' fast and finally gave up. I decided to post this one instead because I'd already come up with it, just needed some color. Did I mention I was 'Fading' fast the other night...?

PS: Evidently, upgrading to the new Blogger interface solved my problem, so now my image can be enlarged again. Gosh, wasn't that a clever way to force us all to upgrade?

Wild Vision

Just when Hank and Harry thought that being down-wind of your nearsighted prey was good enough, Willy Wildebeest has raised the bar.

Kernels, Carrots and Peas, Oh My.

I grew up hating peas and creamed corn. Still don't care for them. But I love me some brussel sprouts. In fact, that's the first thing I cooked for myself after spending a couple months completely restoring my 1940's O'keefe and Merritt stove. No champagne, no celebratory unveiling after all that hard work, just a rewarding helping of tasty brussel sprouts cooked all by myself on my new, vintage stove. Yeah, I'm weird.
Many of you know that I've owned an African Grey parrot, Gumbo, since 1987. He's a fruit and nut only, kind of bird. Doesn't like vegetables much, except for one kind; carrots in any form; cooked or raw. So now I've covered peas, corn, carrots and brussel sprouts in this post. I got nothing more to say about that. But how do you like that great Veg-All label I found? Remember when canned labels were cool? Much cooler than what you found inside the can.
The Illustration Friday word is 'Kernel'.

Clown Coach

Thank you Illustration Friday, for giving me an excuse to 'hitch' a tiny clown car to a motorhome. I've been wanting to draw this one for awhile, every time I see an RV towing a small, economy car. Do those little cars actually have a name in the RV world? hmmmm...

Even Michelangelo had deadlines...

Hopefully you have a job you like, but even dream jobs can have a week where the workload just about does you in. I roughed out this idea when I was having 'one of those days' at Disney in the mid '90s. While I was juggling chainsaws I started wondering if even the great artists of the past had some bean counter lording over them to get their work done on time, so like a responsible employee I took a long break and drew this. It got a lot of laughs back then, and it's always been one of my favorite roughs; because most everyone's been in this situation at work, and that's what makes a gag idea work the best, when it hits home.
I hope you're all having a wonderful week, but if you're not, just think of old Michelangelo lying flat on his back, facing a hot ceiling, with some prick far below staring at his watch.

The Illustration Friday word is 'Jump! (as in, get your work done!)
