Illustration Friday: Swarm

Thought it would be fun to try an Illustration Friday drawing. The word sent out this week was 'SWARM', so naturally I had to do a caveman theme because they're about the only characters I can think of that would be funny being stung. Hope you like. -Ted

Amber, The Earliest Rock Candy

Okay, here's that gag from awhile back that I pulled from the blog because it just wasn't resolved enough. Recently I tried to re-think that idea and make it work but it just wasn't going to happen, and after struggling with it for a day I trashed it and came up with a completely new one that I like even better, yet still using 80% of the original drawing. I don't consider it a solid gag, but I know it's an improvement over what it was before.
Sometimes gag writing can literally take you out on a tree limb with a thousand different branches leading to a new solution, and it's amazing how it can evolve from the initial idea to something completely different when it's finally finished. If it works in the end then the journey was worth it, and you quickly forget the trash can full of discarded drawings that got you there. -Ted

Caveman Curtain Call

Thought I'd run this old caveman post again because many of you have been pestering me about where my avatar originated from.
Okay... I kid....that's not the reason... the real reason I'm doing this is to buy more time while I work on the next gag. Remember when I used to post a new gag every day? Well, the way they're running me like a racehorse at work it may be a long time before I return to that kind of output. I've been saying lately that syndication would be a cakewalk, because I would only have one job to worry about. Anyway, don't fret, new gag coming shortly! Yippee! -Ted

MORE Hummingbird Humor!

This last one is the one that was inspired by Tiffanny's comment. Hope you like it, Tiffanny!

These were fun to do, and the ideas came fairly quick for me. Guess it's something about the hummingbirds size and hyperness that makes them excellent gag material. Let me know which ones work for you. I appreciate your comments.

That will wrap up this homage to the hummingbird. Thank you little feathered clowns of the sky, for being you! -Ted
